Far away imps are easily handled with the Rifle.ĭemon: These bastards have no real differences save two: They move much faster and they hit quite a bit harder. Aside from their Lunge Attack and higher damage, they bring little new to the table take them down at longer ranges if possible, and if they get close, the Shotgun can be counted upon to do its usual work. Worth noting, despite being tougher and stronger, the new Imp is basically the same enemy and really only shows its mettle at close range, unlike many other enemies in Brutal Doom. This new attack can catch you off-guard, so be ready for it - especially since it allows Imps to jump off ledges or up onto low terrain features! Perhaps most notably, they gained a lunge attack from their Doom 3 cousins, and are thus capable of leaping forward to attack in close-combat. Imp: Imps are nastier than they were - they still have their fireballs and claws, but both are nastier they are better in close-combat, and their fireballs are a bit stronger (and also have obvious tells before they launch them). Be careful when facing these in bulk, especially in Final Doom, where they show up quite often. It also makes them hilariously deadly in monster battles: Whereas the Chaingunner used to reliably take down anything up to a Demon with little trouble before, seeing them kill a Baron of Hell on their own is now a routine occurence, so their improved firepower can actually work in your favor, since they're as prone to friendly fire incidents as every other former human.Ī few rifle rounds or a close-up shotgun blast will still rip them open, but the fact that they can kill almost any other enemy at close-range makes them a nasty foe. This has ramped up the threat they pose nearly 3-fold, as they can easily cut a player to shreds at close-range! Fortunately, their accuracy at longer ranges is even worse due to their new weapons, So whilst quite a bit more dangerous, they have the same weaknesses, and they drop the Minigun when they die - score.
HOW TO BRUTAL DOOM UPGRADE
The worst of a very bad lot, Chaingunners have more HP than an Imp, and boast a rather large weapon upgrade - rather than the Chaingun they used to use, they now use Brutal Doom's Minigun. Their fragility means they're easy to put down, but whatever you do, don't let them get close, and don't let them stay there, or you'll be down in short order.Ĭhaingunner: AKA Heavy Weapon Dude. As such, they must be prioritized over other threats at close range - there is simply no other option.įortunately, they hold only 8 rounds a magazine, and take several seconds to reload - a good opportunity can arise during a fight by using terrain wisely and getting them to waste ammo before you put 'em down for the count, though this is kind of an emergency tactic.

Their shotguns are substantially more powerful due to using Brutal Doom's improved shotgun, and their fire rate, likewise, is improved. This is no longer the case in Brutal Doom, and now, they're a larger threat than Imps are. These guys were glass cannons in Doom potentially quite damaging, but only a bit tougher than Former Soldiers and tending to fire infrequently.

Every 20 shots or so, he'll take a sec to reload his firearm. Worth noting, the Former Soldier, like all human enemies save the Chaingunner, has to reload his weapon now and actually has animations for doing so in Brutal Doom. When encountered in packs, he poses a bit more of a threat now dealing with clusters quickly is recommended to reduce the damage they can cause.

Thankfully they're still rather easy to put down in 1-2 rounds of your own rifle, given quality shots. Former Soldiers are annoyances at long range, firing off single rifle rounds and generally being a nuisance. In Brutal Doom, he's still a low-level threat, but is no longer simply a laughing matter he's upgraded from a pistol-class weapon to Brutal Doom's assault rifle, and whilst he only fires the secondary (semi-auto) firing mode, he's actually a very accurate shot now compared to before. In the original Doom, this guy was a bad joke: He fired infrequently, his damage was minor, and his contributions to battles unless in gigantic groups were minimal. In an effort to help players learn what they're dealing with, I've created this guide so you can learn just how much the enemies have changed.
HOW TO BRUTAL DOOM MOD
RIP AND TEAR!! It's an awesome mod and is pretty much how the game was meant to be played. Recently, I've been playing Brutal Doom a lot.
